Shuttleworth and Aero Legends are delighted to announce a new relationship that will see Aero Legends’ flight experiences operating out of Shuttleworth Aerodrome (Old Warden) from May 2025.

Shuttleworth is home to a live airfield, an internationally renowned Collection of aircraft from 1909-1950, as well as veteran vehicles and buses, heritage exhibits, a 9-acre Regency Garden and Shuttleworth House, a Victorian mansion. The site also operates a popular café that is free to access.

SHUTTLEWORTH FLIGHT EXPERIENCES TO OPERATE FROM MAY

Shuttleworth and Aero Legends are delighted to announce a new relationship that will see Aero Legends’ flight experiences operating out of Shuttleworth Aerodrome (Old Warden) from May.

Aero Legends are a premium provider of vintage flying experiences, offering customers the chance to fly in authentically restored wartime aircraft with some of the world’s most established pilots. Their growing fleet of pleasure flight aircraft is the most diverse in the UK and includes the legendary Spitfire.

Now, the two organisations are excited to be offering a new location for flight experiences in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Members of the public will be able to book flights in a two-seater Spitfire as well as a T6 Harvard aircraft from Shuttleworth Aerodrome. Following a detailed pre-flight briefing, Aero Legends will offer guests the chance to experience a fantastic range of aerobatic manoeuvres in unrestricted airspace, with no limit on guest numbers – who can enjoy watching from the ground and make the most of Shuttleworth’s on-site facilities. Flight bookers will take home a souvenir pack complete with flight certificate and aircraft patch. Flying guests will also receive complimentary access to Shuttleworth’s Collection and Garden.

ABOUT SHUTTLEWORTH

Shuttleworth is a year-round visitor attraction in Bedfordshire, comprised of:

The Shuttleworth Collection – a treasure trove of airworthy vintage aircraft from 1909-1950, agricultural and steam exhibits, veteran cars, classic motorcycles, bicycles and vintage buses, and Swiss Garden – a Regency Garden in the ‘Swiss Picturesque’ or ‘Alpine’ style, an RHS partner garden forming part of the Grade II registered park of Old Warden. The site features the Runway Café and a gift shop. Shuttleworth House primarily hosts conferences and business events and is a very popular wedding venue. Shuttleworth hosts a range of events throughout the year from Air Shows to steam fayres, and so much more, as well as regular educational and group visits. The site is also home to the Shuttleworth Veteran Aeroplane Society and The Friends of The Swiss Garden.

In-Flight Video

Cockpit video footage can be taken for each Spitfire flight. Buy the optional video when you buy the flight online or buy on the day. The video will comprise of cockpit footage from a cockpit facing camera. Additionally, your guests can take photos and videos from the ample viewing areas assigned at each aerodrome.

T6 Harvard Formation

20 Minute Spitfire & T6 Harvard Formation Experience. An exclusive experience for a friend or family member to fly in close formation with you during your Fly a Spitfire Experience. Give them the camera and snap that air-to-air masterpiece for the man cave wall.
